About the Project

The Muslim Marriage Project exists to restore marriage as a sacred act of worship, where two people grow in faith, responsibility, and mercy as they journey toward Allah together. We believe that strong marriages are the foundation of resilient families and thriving communities. Through thoughtfully designed intensives, retreats, and seminars, we create space for couples to pause, reflect, and intentionally reinvest in their bond. This work is educational and faith-centered in nature, with thoughtfully designed experiences that support intention, mercy, and shared growth within marriage by fostering reflection, learning, and deeper understanding.

Our Framework

Our approach is grounded in four core pillars drawn from Islamic values and lived experience:

Tranquility (Sakinah)
Creating a climate of peace and emotional safety where connection and spiritual growth can flourish.

Intentional Love (Muwaddah)
Moving love from feeling to practice through daily, conscious investment in one another’s growth.

Enduring Mercy (Rahmah)
Sustaining compassion over time, especially through challenge, imperfection, and change.

The Healed Family
Building a generational legacy rooted in faith, emotional health, and mercy that endures beyond the couple.

Who This Is For

This project is for married Muslim couples who:

  • Intentionally invest in their marriage as a meaningful and ongoing commitment

  • Value faith-centered growth that anchors their relationship in shared purpose and worship

  • Seek to deepen connection and shared growth through reflection, effort, and mutual understanding

  • Value dignity and substance in relationship enrichment, preferring thoughtful engagement over surface-level advice

Thoughtful Questions

What is the Muslim Marriage Project?
The Muslim Marriage Project (MMP) is a faith-centered nonprofit organization dedicated to strengthening Muslim marriages through thoughtfully designed seminars, intensives, retreats, and educational experiences.
Rooted in Islamic values and informed by contemporary understanding of relationships, emotional well-being, and family systems, MMP creates spaces where couples can grow in intentionality, connection, communication, and shared purpose.
At its core, MMP views marriage not simply as a private relationship, but as a sacred trust that shapes individuals, families, communities, and future generations.

Who is MMP designed for?
MMP is designed primarily for Muslim married couples who want to invest intentionally in their marriage and continue growing together in faith, character, and companionship.
The experience is suitable for couples across many stages of marriage, including newly married couples, couples navigating busy family life, and long-married couples seeking renewed intentionality and connection.

Is this a form of marriage counseling or therapy?
No. MMP events are not therapeutic or clinical in nature. They do not involve diagnosis, treatment, or facilitated disclosure. The work is educational, reflective, and faith-centered, designed to preserve dignity and personal boundaries.

What makes this different from other Muslim marriage events or workshops?
MMP approaches marriage as a lifelong practice of growth, mercy, responsibility, and worship.
Rather than focusing primarily on crisis or repair, MMP emphasizes strengthening relational foundations, emotional awareness, practical skills, and intentional family culture through faith-centered, emotionally safe, and thoughtfully structured experiences

Will we be asked to share personal issues publicly?
No. There is no expectation of public sharing, disclosure, or group discussion of personal matters. Reflection and exercises are designed to be contained within the couple.

What does “faith-centered” mean in practice?
Faith-centered means marriage is treated as an act of worship and moral responsibility, not self-optimization or personal fulfillment alone. Islamic values frame the experience, without turning the event into a lecture series or jurisprudential class.

Who leads the sessions?
Sessions are led by a combination of spiritually grounded leadership and subject-matter experts with lived experience. Facilitators guide reflection and structure the environment rather than instruct or intervene.

Is MMP only for couples experiencing difficulty?
No. MMP is designed for couples who value growth, intentionality, and ongoing investment in their relationship.
Many couples attend not because something is “wrong,” but because they want to strengthen communication, deepen connection, develop healthier patterns, and approach marriage with greater excellence and purpose.

Are MMP experiences primarily couple-based?
MMP experiences are designed primarily around the couple relationship itself.
Reflections, activities, and guided discussions are intentionally structured for spouses to engage privately and meaningfully with one another, rather than through group sharing with other couples.
While some portions of certain seminars, intensives, or retreats may occasionally include separate sessions for brothers and sisters, the overall experience is centered on helping couples learn, reflect, and grow together.

Is this suitable for newly married couples?
Yes. Many of the themes are foundational and especially relevant early in marriage, when habits and tone are still forming.

Is this suitable for long-time married couples?
Yes. The work is designed to meet couples wherever they are, including those who want to revisit patterns, restore intention, or reorient after years of routine.

What outcomes should couples realistically expect?
MMP does not promise transformation or resolution of specific issues. Couples should expect increased clarity, shared language, and a renewed sense of responsibility and intention toward their marriage.

How does this support the broader Muslim community?
By normalizing preventative, faith-centered marriage engagement, MMP contributes to healthier homes, reduced stigma around seeking support, and stronger conditions for faith continuity across generations.

Why focus on marriage instead of individuals?
Marriage is one of the most influential environments shaping emotional regulation, faith transmission, and family stability. Strengthening this environment has ripple effects beyond the couple itself.

Is this initiative affiliated with a mosque or organization?
The Muslim Marriage Project is an independent incorporated nonprofit organization that collaborates with values-aligned individuals, professionals, educators, and community organizations.
As the work grows, MMP may continue building partnerships that support its mission and values.

Is The Muslim Marriage Project a non-profit or for-profit initiative?
The Muslim Marriage Project is a non-profit organization, rooted in service to the Muslim community. Our work is guided by intention, integrity, and a commitment to nurturing stronger marriages as a foundation for faith, family, and future generations.

How are dignity and privacy protected in a group setting?
Through clear boundaries, structured formats, and the absence of disclosure-based activities. The design prioritizes restraint and respect rather than emotional exposure.

What if attending brings up things we want to work on further?
Some couples may choose to pursue additional learning, counseling, or support independently after the event. Where appropriate, resources may be shared, but MMP itself does not provide follow-up therapy.

What values guide decision-making within MMP?
Tranquility (sakinah), intentional love (muwaddah), enduring mercy (rahmah), dignity, restraint, and responsibility.

Why is the seminar called “Closely Woven”?
“Closely Woven” reflects the Qur’anic imagery of spouses as garments for one another, representing a relationship rooted in protection, closeness, dignity, comfort, and mutual care.
The name also reflects the intentional weaving together of faith, emotional connection, mercy, and shared purpose within marriage.
Are there separate sessions for brothers and sisters?
For this seminar, sessions will be held jointly for couples. However, the experience is intentionally designed for spouses to engage primarily with one another throughout the day.
Exercises and reflections are meant to be done together as a couple rather than in groups, and couples are encouraged to spend breaks and meals together to make the most of the experience
Is childcare available?
Yes, for this seminar, there are limited spots available for childcare for ages 4-10. Register ahead of time to save a spot for your child(ren).
Can we bring our infants and toddlers?
For infants and toddlers, while we understand that childcare can be challenging, we generally do not recommend bringing them to this seminar. The experience is highly interactive, with hands-on exercises and intentional couple engagement throughout the day.
We want couples to be able to fully benefit from the experience as much as possible.
What happens during the seminar day?
Experiences may include talks, guided reflections, couple exercises, practical learning sessions, facilitated discussions, and opportunities for personal reflection.
Each event is intentionally structured to balance learning, reflection, engagement, and meaningful connection.
Are activities interactive?
Yes. MMP experiences include guided interactive elements and couple reflections designed to encourage thoughtful engagement and practical application.
Participation is always approached with dignity, emotional safety, and respect for personal boundaries.
Can one spouse attend alone?
No. MMP experiences are intentionally designed for couples to attend together, as the reflections, conversations, and activities are centered around shared participation and engagement within the marriage relationship.
What is the refund policy?
All registrations are final sale and non-refundable. If an attendee is unable to attend, they may contact the MMP team regarding possible ticket transfer options where applicable.
Is there a dress code?
Attendees are encouraged to dress modestly and comfortably in a manner appropriate for a faith-centered professional environment.
Will the venue be accessible?
MMP aims to host events in accessible venues whenever possible. Accessibility details will be included on the registration page, and attendees are welcome to contact the team with specific accommodation needs.
Will virtual attendance be available?
For this seminar, attendance will be in person only. The experience is intentionally designed around couples being physically present together and engaging fully in the sessions, reflections, and activities throughout the day.
